2022 Intermediate City Municipal Infrastructure Development Seminar

Adding value to the Integrated Development Planning Office

Local municipalities in South Africa use “Integrated Development Planning” as a method to plan future development in their respective areas. The IDP approach is an approach to planning that involves the entire municipality and its citizens in finding the best solutions to achieve good long-term development.
The Project Management Office plans, organises and directs the completion of specific projects for the Municipality while ensuring that these projects are on time, on budget and within scope.
The Engineering Services Department is responsible for amongst others the planning, design, implementation, operations and maintenance of all municipal engineering services.

The South African National Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) has released a new version of the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) Guideline for Metropolitan Municipalities. This guideline builds on the recognised IDP process and incorporates planning reforms identified through the Built Environment Performance Planning (BEPP) process.

MSCOA (Municipal Standard Chart of Accounts) is part of the National Treasury’s ongoing budget and reporting reforms aimed at improving financial reporting and is a mandatory requirement of National Treasury.

mSCOA is the acronym which stands for the Municipal Standard Chart of Accounts which was introduced by National Treasury in 2014, which became mandatory for all local municipalities from 1 July 2017.
