The District Development Model (DDM) in South Africa is creating regional efficiencies and much needed capacity to address challenges in the local government environment. the outcome is a single, strategic “One Plan” for each district. By syncing plans and budgets, the One Plan aims to cut through red tape, eliminate duplication, and supercharge progress in vital areas like healthcare, education, water, and sanitation.
CP3 has been applied in the development of one of the first One Plans that was developed in South Africa and was shown to be a vital enabler for the expedient development and delivery of a sustainable District Development Model. CP3 provides a single rallying point for municipalities within the district to register their catalytic projects, monitor implementation progress and appraise business intelligence through dashboards.
All spheres of government are considered and included in the process. CP3, therefore, empowers municipalities to bridge the gap of working in silos by facilitating efficient collaboration and transparency. With CP3’s collaborative capabilities, we are in a position to unlock the full potential of the DDM, by promoting synergistic cooperation among stakeholders in both the public and private sectors. The next few posts will introduce you to how CP3 can assist in providing innovation, collaboration and transparency, for South Africa’s District Development Model.
